Thirteen Years

We managed to get away for a few days. First to Tokoroa to see Michael’s parents and leave Alexander there for a holiday by himself. Then to Hastings for three nights in the tent.

We stayed at the Hastings Top 10 campground … beautiful big trees providing shade in just the right places. I spent lots of time reading (thanks Janine for the loan of the book) while the kids made friends with the ‘neighbours’ and roamed the campground till it got dark.

The weather turned coldish and wet for one day, so we spent that day doing ‘indoor’ stuff in Napier. The girls made necklaces at the bead shop and we spent ages exploring this really amazing antique shop … it was completely stuffed full of all kinds of neat stuff … very cool bird cages, huge mirrors, neat furniture and loads of other bits and pieces. The girls were kept busy ‘treasure hunting’ … and once they found all the required items they got to choose an old coin each.

We waited till Alexander was back with us before going to Splash Planet… which was a good move because he was the one who enjoyed it all the most … he just loved the water slides.

We all had a great time though and none of us were ready to leave when closing time came, we had been there all day and still didn’t do everything. We thought after a big day at Splash Planet the kids would sleep on the way home but they were still awake at 10.30pm when we finally got home.

The whole family enjoyed mini golf … the first time we’ve tried this with the kids but they all did really well … even Jessi … she was a little mini golf queen actually… we think it’s cause she had the red ball!

Michael and I had to agree on some ‘family’ rules for what happens when the ball bounces out of the course or when no matter how hard they tried the ball just wouldn’t go over that hill.

Speaking of Michael and I … we’ve now been married for thirteen years and 1 day.
